Carmine’s Returns to the Gold Coast

Carmine’s is back. After a two-year hiatus and a complete rebuild, the iconic Italian restaurant in Chicago’s Gold Coast is set to reopen on March 1, 2025. The new 15,000-square-foot space at 1043 N. Rush Street is bigger, sleeker, and designed to keep up with the neighborhood’s high-energy dining scene. Expect a first-floor bar opening onto the street, expanded private dining areas, and a huge terrace overlooking Rush Street, which is sure to be one of the best outdoor dining spots in Chicago.

But this is more than just a restaurant reopening—it’s another sign of the Gold Coast’s ongoing resurgence. Tavern on Rush is still part of the mix, having reopened just down the street, while The Bellevue has taken over its former space. These shifts reinforce that Rush Street remains one of the most vibrant dining and nightlife destinations in Chicago.

For real estate, the return of Carmine’s adds even more appeal to the area. Luxury condos in the Gold Coast continue to attract buyers who want a true urban lifestyle—walkable streets, high-end dining, and a scene that’s as polished as it is energetic. Whether you’re looking at condos for sale in 9 W Walton, Waldorf Astoria, 4 E Elm, or The Park Hyatt, the neighborhood’s strength in both lifestyle and property values is undeniable.

With Carmine’s returning in full force, Gold Coast real estate continues to be some of the most desirable in Chicago—and it’s only getting better.
